There are various ways to help lower your prescription costs or even get them free by contacting the pharmaceutical company and ask about there free drug programs.

The Free Medicine Foundation even offers a higher guideline for income for people needing prescription drugs that may not be able to afford them. They require you to pay a one time processing fee that is refundable.

Did you know that the price of a higher strength medication is usually the same as a lower strength? For example if you are taking 50mg of a certain medicine, you can request the doctor write you a prescription for 100mg and use a pill splitter to split your medicine. This in return will give you double the prescription for half the cost. This method could be saving you hundreds of dollars monthly.

A pharmacy discount card could be saving you between 15% and 25% per prescription. This pharmacy card is usually a one time fee (very low cost) or even free. Benefit House offers a free prescription card you can use at all national pharmacy chains for free. They claim you can save up to 75% on certain medications.

The prices the pharmacies charge are insane. Especially when you see how much they actually cost a drug company to make them.
