Nepal is a small beautiful country, located on the North Eastern boarder of India. Nepal is the only Hindu nation in the world today. I had an opportunity to visit Nepal with my wife last year. We stayed for around one week in Nepal and the every minute of those days was enjoyable. The visa is not required for visiting Nepal if you are an Indian citizen. However, one photo identity is to be carried with you. There are mainly two ways to go to Nepal from India. One is by road, and the other is by air, from Delhi, Calcutta, or Mumbai. You can reach to Katmandu directly by air. Air route is very convenient, though slightly expensive.

We took the Indian air lines flight from Calcutta for Katmandu. The flight takes around one hour. If you can mange your seat on the left hand side in the air craft during this flight, you may get a chance to view Mount Everest very clearly if it happens to be a sunny day. We could see Mount Everest clearly and were overjoyed. Make sure to have a confirmed return air ticket with you as availability of return air tickets can really be a problem. We landed at Katmandu and drove straight to our hotel on the main Durbar Street. We had booked a package of "travel India" for 4 nights and 5 days in a hotel having three star facilities, including all meals. The rate for this package was around Rs.4000 (around $100) per head. We were allotted a nice room in hotel Sita. It would be economical and convenient if you book such package for Nepal. Very good packages are available through "travel India" and "Blaze international" ranging from 2 star facilities to 5 star facilities. Hotel Yak and Yeti is one of the best 5 star hotels in Katmandu. There is also a casino for gambling here. But only foreigners are allowed to enter and play in casino. The five star hotel package costs around Rs.15000 (around $370) per head, for 4 nights/5days stay.

Did You Know?
Nepal is known as the "land of gods" as there are many temples situated here. The beauty of Himalayas can also be felt more closely from Nepal, rather than India. Make sure to visit Nepal to feel its heart beats at least once in life.
