On Wednesday, the carnival arrives, courtesy of McDonagh Amusements. There will be over 20 rides and games to entertain the kids. The carnival is located in the Riverview Plaza parking lot. The carnival will run through Sunday, the 29th. There is also a kids parade at 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday is when the offshore racing boats start to arrive in town. They will be parked throughout the city of St. Clair for your viewing pleasure. The beer and hospitality tents will be open on Friday - Sunday as well. Events such as the carnival and the vendors set up along the boardwalk will run from noon to Midnight Wednesday through Sunday. Friday night is also when the concerts begin for the SummerFest. There will be a barge placed in the river, near the boardwalk, where the bands will perform. Friday night's concert will be headlined by Michigan's own Uncle Kracker. It is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm. Many of the bars in St. Clair will also be hosting parties throughout the weekend.
Saturday is when the boats will actually be zooming up and down the St. Clair River. This is the 13th year for the races to be taking place in St. Clair. The races are set to start at 2:30 p.m. for the timed speed runs. This goes until 4:00 p.m. From 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., the Red Bull Stunt team will be performing aerial acrobats. All along the boardwalk, there will be vendors set up as well. They will be selling everything from elephant ears and ice cream to pitas and burgers. There will be plenty to eat and drink for everyone. The concert taking place Saturday night will be 80's rockers, The Romantics.
