Muncie, Indiana - Tommy Pruitt was found guilty of shooting Morgan County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Stairnes on June 14, 2001. Still unclear is whether Pruitt is mentally retarded. It is assumed that he did not understand the crime that he committed. It has been asserted that because Pruitt's IQ is only between 52-82, that he should not face execution. Now that has changed. A Lawrenceburg judge has denied Tommy Pruitt's request for a new trial. With this decision, Pruitt can now face the death penalty in the case of Daniel Stairnes reported by the Daily News.

St. Louis, Missouri - In North County, an off duty police officer was shot. The shooting occurred at the 2100 block of Northern Limits. Police have confirmed there was a second person shot, however it is not confirmed if it was a robber. Names of both victims have not been released as of today, reports KTVI.

Tampa, Florida - Jean D. Alexis was arrested and being held without bail for allegedly stealing his girlfriend's '98 Pathfinder and throwing a brick at her. Alexis is being charged with felony carjacking, a felony for throwing a deadly missile, misdemeanor battery and a few other charges that have not been released, the Tampa Tribune contributed.

Port Charlotte, Florida - A 3-year-old girl was unharmed was taken from her home on the 2400 block of Nova Lane. Two men had come into the house and taken the girl and dropped her outside of her house when her uncle heard a noise and started screaming when he realized she had been taken. The identities of the girl or families are not being released in order to protect the child. Police are urging anyone who knows anything to call Crime Stoppers, the Herald Tribune reported.

Marysville, Kentucky - 25-year-old Amy Baker is being held in the Mason County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. She has been accused of being a witness in the death of 3-year-old Marcus Fiesel, who was bound and left in a closet for two days by his mother. Baker is pleading not guilty, AP reports.
