Galaxcy Pizza has some of the best cheap pizza I've encountered in San Francisco. Surprisingly, it's also a very pleasant place to sit down and eat in spite of being located in Crackhead Central. During the after-lunch lull, between about 1 to 4 PM, the place is nearly empty save for one lone soul or another blowing in here and there and the mysterious crackhead migratory pattern apparently leads them away from this area at this time so the neighborhood is rather quiet (there's a lot of drug dealing down at the beginning of Golden Gate, but seemingly it doesn't drift upward this far).

The slices are pre-cooked and in a display case for reheating, but they are apparently switched out regularly as mine have always come out fresh. The two gents who work the counter are pleasant, and bring your pizza out to your table when it's ready. There's the usual cooler filled with the usual juices and sodas, or a fountain soda for 75 cents. If you're picking up a whole pie or getting delivery, they have a number of interesting pizza combinations named after various planets and celestial figures and such - or you can just get whatever standard toppings you like.

Full pies seemed to run about $9-12, the specialty combo pizzas are $15-18, single slices are $2-$3, calzones are around $7. The slices are very big, and this is a good thick filling doughy sort of pizza. One slice could be enough to do you, unless your appetite is grand. The cheese at $2 is quite a deal, add one topping for $2.25, Hawaiian for $2.50, and they have a pretty good vegetable supreme combo piled with various veggies for $3. It's not mind-blowing pizza, but it's tasty and filling and a good value. They've also got quite a menu of appetizers and other entrees - buffalo wings, chicken nuggets, onion rings, chicken strips, garlic bread, fries, deli sandwiches, spaghetti, ravioli, desserts.
