Nuts are a wonderful snack, but they're much more than that. Nuts are loaded with protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins. If you want to lower your cholesterol, there are certain nuts, like almonds, that will help you do so. If you're overweight, nuts are also a great way for you to stay satisfied with a healthier lifestyle. Nuts are definitely a snack you can feel good about, but what are some of the other way you can enjoy this nutrition packed food?Nuts for Breakfast
Many people are guilty of skipping over important meals like breakfast. But, breakfast doesn't have to be complicated. Breakfast also doesn't have to be unhealthy for it to be quick. A great way to enjoy a healthy breakfast, that contains nuts, is to enjoy a bowl of yogurt and fruit that is topped with your favorite type of nuts. You can also add walnuts or pecans to whole wheat pancakes for a breakfast that is filled with protein and healthy carbs.
Nuts for Lunch
Nuts taste absolutely fabulous on a salad. The next time you pack a lunch for work, try a mixture of romaine lettuce, pieces of grilled chicken, tomatoes, walnuts, and a light ranch dressing. You can add any type of vegetables that you like; this is just a starting point. This salad is not only delicious, but it's healthy as well. Also, instead of feeding your children chicken nuggets that have been deep fried make them a healthy lunch. Take chicken tenders, dip them in egg whites, and then crushed pecans. Then bake until done. This is a healthy lunch you can feel good about giving your kids.
Nuts for Supper
You may not believe it, but nuts can be easily added to your supper as well. For example, take a 93% lean hamburger meat and stir in bleu cheese and crushed pecans. This is a hamburger that you'll absolutely love. It will be loaded with protein and it will also have a nice dose of calcium thrown in. Another supper idea is to add nuts to your vegetables. Try adding almonds to steamed green beans. This is a side dish that you don't have to feel guilty about.
