A picnic is lot of fun for families with children of all ages. Packing the perfect picnic, by bringing along every item you will need for a great time together as a family, will make your picnic that much more fun. Here are some tips for packing the perfect picnic.Cold food. You will first of all need a cooler for packing cold food. Items such as lunchmeat, potato salad, etc will need to be kept at the proper cold temperature so that food poisoning is not an issue. Using freezer packs or ice placed in zip top bags will keep your food neater and cleaner than just filling the cooler with ice. Make sure you pack some clean ice in bags if you plan to pour your drinks over ice too.
Non-perishable food. The non-perishables should be packed separately from the cold food. Items such as bread, chips, and cookies can become soggy if they are packed in a cooler along with the cold food. Pack these items in a separate bag or box to keep them fresh and ready to eat.
Paper products. Don't forget to bring along plates, napkins, eating utensils, and cups for your food and drinks. You may also want to bring along a disposable or reusable tablecloth for the picnic table. A great way to transport these items is to place them in a large garbage bag. You can then use the garbage bag to gather up your trash when you are finished eating. Or if you bring all reusable items (which is great for the environment), transporting them home to be washed in a garbage bag also works well.
Entertainment. A family picnic doesn't have to be just about eating. Bring along some family games to enjoy as well. Games such as Frisbee, bocce, toss games, and other outdoor games, are easy to transport and can be played virtually anywhere.
