Starting off as a background dancer for Digital Underground, im sure no one saw the road the Tupac Shakur was going to travel. Commercially known as 2Pac he signed with Interscope Records in 1990. Interscope had joint venture with Jive Records to help release their projects. In 1991 2Pac delivered 2Pacalypse Now to the marketplace. This album showed basically two sides of the young rapper. He also showed almost obligatory "gangsta" side rap present in the early 90's with songs like "I Dont Give A F***", and "Crooked A** N****".

But he showed social consciousness on songs like "Brenda's Got A Baby" and "Young Black Male" these songs exposed him to a different type of audience and expanded the minds of current fan base. He certainly got the break he was looking for with album it was up to him what he'd do with it. In 1993 he stuck to much of the same format on his second release Strictly 4 My N*****. On this album he was open to more collaboration with features from Digital Underground, Ice Cube, and Ice T. Digital Underground assisted on "I Get Around" and the tandem of Ice Cube and Ice T assisted on "Last Wordz". Although house party type singles like "I Get Around" made it to the Top 10 of the Billboard Charts more of his thoughtful work made an impact on the charts too. "Keep YaHead Up" reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and "Papa'z Song" peaked at 87. Not only was this album a presence in the marketplace it also added a few more reasons for people enjoy the rapper's work. . There was a question concerning his production would be able it be able to continue stand up against Death Row and Dr. Dre's G Funk sound as it began dominate the airwaves.
