Kids who are two and older can create their own paper muffin cup baby birds with this paper craft idea.

This craft idea for kids 18 months and up does need some preparation by parents or teachers.

1 container of paper muffin tins
1 sheet of card stock
one piece of colorful yarn

Preparation for Cupcake Cup Baby Birds

For children 18 months and up parents, caregivers or teachers will need to pre-cut the muffin cup tins into the shape of a bird.

First, use the pencil to draw the bird. Start at the top and draw a beak by drawing a small triangle.

Next, draw a circle for the head, attached to the beak. Then draw two lines for the neck, that are angled out to the edge of the muffin tin. That is the beginning of the wings. The shape of the wings are fine asthe edges of the muffin tin.

If the muffin tin is a clock, cut out a shape that starts at 4 o'clock and ends at 5 o'clock. This creates the right side of the tail andthe bottom of the right wing. Do the same on the other side from 8 o'clock to 6 o'clock to cut the other side of the wings and tail.

Then on each side at the bottom four o'clock and seven o'clock.

Once you have one made, you can use that as the format for to cut other muffin tins into bird shapes. Also cut card stock the same way. This will give the paper craft a more solid backing.

Use the hole punch to poke a hole in one of the wings of the paper craft bird.

Tie a short piece of yarn to the bird, so the child 18 months + can hang the bird in the window.
