Claws and Paws Animal Park: a Must See for All Animal Lovers Near Hamlin, Pennsylvania

Claws and Paws Animal Park is located on Route 590, (Pocono's) Hamlin, Pennsylvania. This animal park is a must see for all animal lovers plus a fantastic place for the whole family. The park is set in a rustic setting, most of the paths are unpaved so they are a little tough for walking, strollers can be wheeled but it is a little difficult. On a hot sunny day you can find many sitting areas in shaded spots.

Everyday at the park you can see two different animal shows; you will get a schedule of the shows when you enter the park. The shows they put on are great you will see many baby animals, parrots and reptiles.

If you are really brave you can even pet an alligator and a python. You will be surprised and shocked when you see all the little children bravely putting their hands up to pet the reptiles.

There is a very large petting zoo, there are a lot of tame animals here that you can walk right up to and touch. Deer, lambs, goats will come right up to you so you can touch and pet them or even give them a hug.

A new feature at the park is the Dino Outpost this is a place for children to dig for dinosaur bones. Plenty of staff are on hand to help the children, and will help the children locate the areas where they are sure to find plenty of fossils.

At scheduled times you will be able to feed the giraffes; there is a staff member present that will give you a carrot that you personally can feed to the giraffe. One of the giraffes at the zoo is named Twiga and she has been known to lean in close to people and give them a sloppy kiss. There are also scheduled times to feed the parrots. The parrots are Lory parrots which are small birds from Australia and Indonesia. The birds are friendly and were hand raised, so they are very gently. When you visit the birds you are given a slice of apple, the parrots will land on your shoulder or arm so they can take a bite of the apple. This is a really cool experience to see all these colorful birds flocking to the visitors for a snack.
