Dragonflies are shiny, flying and fascinating to children two years old and up.

With this craft idea, help the two-year-old child make a collection of dragonfiles.

Muffin Cup Dragonflies: Paper Crafts Materials

1 brand new clothes pin
1 sleeve of shiny, metallic muffin tin papers
1 sheet of tissue paper
2 pipe cleaners

Tools to Make the Muffin Cup Dragonflies

one glue stick
washable markers

Prepare the Arts and Crafts Supplies for the Muffin Cup Dragonflies

Take one metallic muffin tin and one piece of tissue paper.

Cut the tissue paper in a circle, using the muffin tin as a guide. Keep the tissue paper slightly larger than the muffin tin.

Place both the tissue paper and the metallic muffin tin cup flat.

Pre-fold the metallic muffin tin paper and the tissue paper into accordian-like strips.

Lets Kids Do the Decorating

! Children 2 Years Old+ can Do this Part:

Help them draw to eyes on the clothespin with a marker. Next. they can dot the clothes pin with different colors of marker.

When the body of the dragon fly is all decorated, wrap one pipe cleaner around the open part of the clothespin. Do the same on the other side. Bend the pipe cleaners at the end to make tiny feet. These are the dragonfly's legs.

Next, help the child place the accoridan-like strip of the metallic cupcake paper and the tissue paper between the pinchy part of the clothes pin. Show them how to spread out the papers to make the colorful and shiny wings.

Make a collection of dragonflies.

This is one craft that should not be left alone with a toddler. Clothespin crafts need supervision, since curious toddlers can easily pinch themselves iwht the clothespins.

How to Decorate With the Paper Craft Dragonfly

Use a piece of yarn to srtring up the dragonfly by the body.

Hand the dragon flies on the string and place in a window.

Or, hang them on a tree or bush outside. A whole collection of them make for a festive garden.

These dragonflies are great guests at children's tea parties or garden parties.

Secure a couple to garden stakes or popsicle sticks and place in the ground, to decorate a child's garden. Or, stick them in the soil of indoor plants, carefully.
