I love collage. It's my favorite medium to work in. It's great for the people who are artsy but who are not great pencil to paper artists. That is me to a tee. It's a medium that works wonders for children because it allows them to be as creative as their mind allows them to be. It also is a great way to recycle.

Materials you will need include but aren't limited to:

Large drawing paper, card stock/oak tag paper or thin cardboard- This type of papers allows you to use various items other than just paper.
Markers, crayons, paint, colored pencils, and any coloring like items
scissors
Glue - I like glue sticks. (Costco has 24 glue sticks for about seven dollars. That is just great.) The glue sticks that seem to work best for children are the ones that go on purple but dry clear. The purple color allows children to see where they put glue, and where they need glue. They are great for papers.
Tacky Glue or E600 Glue - Both these glues are great for gluing heavier items like fabric, beads, etc. (I'm anti-spray adhesive because they are usually annoyingly sticky and smelly.) Check out my review of E600 Glue at: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/202293/e6000_the_best_glue_on_earth.html
Catalogs, magazines, advertisements, cereal boxes, etc.
Goodies - Goodies are whatever spins your artistic wheels. I like scraps of fabric, beads, trims, shells, feathers, playing cards, old keys, tissue papers, pretty napkins, stamps, etc.

You could spend hours just picking out great images. Advertisers have began using really different and interesting ads, like the Nikon ad that is shaped like the camera, and is the actual size of a camera. (I kept that one to make a thank you note for a photographer friend.) Keep in mind, you don't have to use the whole page. Just pick what you like on a page, and use that. You can even save them in an old shoe box, until you are ready to use them. You can pick them by color, image, theme, feel, its really up to you.
