2. It is more convenient to chat with someone online than to drive to their house and talk to them face to face.

3. You don't have to get dressed to send an email.

4. You don't have to put on makeup to talk in a web forum.

5. Electronic communication is more easily stored, created, and deciphered.

What is happening is that humanity is moving toward a technological singularity. If humanity can manage to survive, each year people will become more meshed with technology. Talking on the computer will be more normal than talking in person. This is the next step in the evolution of humanity.
