Dan Aykroyd Plans to Open $11 Million Canadian Winery Under His Name
According to the Associated Press, Dan Aykroyd is endorsing a winery with over $11 million of his own money. With this large endorsement, he hopes to boost and put the Canadian Niagara's wine region on an international scale.
The Dan Aykroyd Winery, named after the star himself, will be located in Lincoln, Ontario, the heart of the Ontario's wine region. The winery will also showcase personal items and souvenirs from Aykroyd's acting career, reported the Associated
Press.
Aykroyd was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, so starting a winery near his hometown was a longtime goal for him. "This is really a dream," said Aykroyd about opening and endorsing the Dan Aykroyd Winery.
The Dan Aykroyd Winery will begin construction this fall and will be fully completely by the 2008 growing season in Canada, said the Associated Press.
Another exciting part of the winery is that it will "green." It will feature many solar panels and have a green-friendly wastewater management system. The winery expects to draw in about 44,000 visitors a year.
Now what many people, especially wine buyers and tasters, are interested in are obviously the products. The wine from the Dan Aykroyd Winery will have extremely affordable wine. The average bottles will cost about $14, where as the limited edition wines will go for about $93, reported the Associated Press.
The first wine that will be available under Dan Aykroyd's label will be his Signature Reserve VQA Niagara Peninsula Vidal Icewine 2005. This specific kind will be available this year.
