After a long deployment in Iraq and lots of time apart, my boyfriend Chris and I were ready for a romantic getaway. Sandals Montego Bay gave us just that. The moment we exited customs we were treated to drinks and comfy couches in the Sandals private airport lounge. Our luggage was transported to the shuttle when it came to pick us up and we were taken to the resort where champagne and cool towels awaited us. Our room was not ready when we arrived so the staff at "Mo Bay" upgraded us to the Honeymoon Suite. The suite was georgeous. The tub was deep and lined with jets while the open shower sat adjacent. The his and her sinks were wide and offered enough space for our expansive collection of hygiene supplies. We relished the robes after each shower and ended the night with champagne and sodas from the wet bar. Our bed was wide and welcoming. Chris and I slept like babies the entire stay.
The Honeymoon Suite had an amazing view. The pier pavilions were off in the distance and created beautiful shadows when the sun set. The friendly salesmen rowing along the shore gave you a taste of true Jamaican spirit. The water was warm and inviting, as was the sand. For those couples who love to lounge in the shade, the Sandals private beach is covered in reclining beach chairs complete with beach umbrellas.
Our second day at Mo Bay we were sad to leave the Honeymoon Suite but were just as impressed with our Premium Room. The balcony overlooked the expansive garden walk ways that seperated the buildings and off in the distance you could see the ocean. Our room was not far from the piano bar where you could always find someone in the hot tub or a bartender ready to take your order- or both!
There was always some kind of food available. You could attend lunch or dinner at Tokyo Joe's- an asian style restaurant where they make your dish right in front of your eyes, Cochina Romana's- an Italian style restaurant with a menu filled with delicious pastas, the Oleander Room- an upscale restaurant where Jamaican style food is the focus and dressing up is a must, the O.K. Corral- the "barefoot restaurant" on the beach or the Bayside Restaurant where the buffet is to die for.
