Each day, countless numbers of men and women suffer from headache pain. This is not headache pain that is intermittent and comes and goes but, instead, headache pain that is significantly chronic, recurring day after day.

Known as chronic daily headache pain, sufferers are often confused as to what underlying health condition may be precipitating this development of the headache disorder. In many cases, the chronic daily headache will disappear for a few days and then return, without cause, lasting for up to 15 days.

Often, women will attribute this headache pain that which is related to hormonal fluctuations. While this may seem a realistic underlying condition, it certainly would not explain why men also suffer from chronic daily headaches.

Upon further research, it has been determined that a small number of these chronic daily headache sufferers are experiencing a condition known as hemicrania continua. Described as moderate pain, that is relentless over many days primarily affecting one side of the head, hemicrania continua is of an unknown origin. What is known is the condition may persist for up to six months and then, without reason, disappear for a few weeks or months and then reappear again.

If you seem to experience chronic daily headache pain, this may be an indication that you suffer from this rare headache disorder. While many individuals will relate the condition to stress or hormones, the actual cause and origin is not known but, what is known is the condition can be treated, in most cases, with a dose of indomethacin. In fact, many healthcare professionals, including neurologists, are using indomethacin as a form of diagnosing the headache condition; immediate relief is an indication of the chronic daily headache disorder.

Wow. Now I'm almost grateful to have migraines. At least I only experience those a couple times a month. Great article!
