Purchasing a shower curtain to match your bathroom décor can be one of the most difficult parts about creating a custom bathroom. Luckily, it is super simple to create one yourself! Due to drying time, this project should take about an afternoon to complete. For this project, you will need:
- A tan canvas shower curtain, plain
- Newspaper
- Krylon® Shortcuts Paint Pen, in True Taupe
- Krylon® Shortcuts Paint Pen, in Antique Bronze
- Krylon® Shortcuts Paint Pen, in Espresso
- Any glue that will adhere cloth to cloth
- Small paintbrush
- Enough 4" squares of different shades of faux leather
- Enough 4" squares of red bandana fabric
- Western themed stencils
- Masking tape
- Western themed shower curtain hooks
Begin by first covering your work area well with newspaper. Make sure your shower curtain has been washed, dried, and is completely lint free. Spread the curtain out over your work area. Coat the back of one 4" faux leather with glue and adhere to the curtain itself. Next to that square, adhere a 4" square of red bandana fabric. Repeat this process, alternating the squares of leather and bandana fabric to create a "quilt" like pattern. Allow all glue to dry before continuing. (Note: Be sure to either cut holes in the fabric squares to accommodate the hooks or leave a gap at the top.)
Secure a western themed stencil to the top of one fabric square using masking tape. Using the Krylon® Shortcuts Paint Pen in True Taupe, trace the design directly onto the cloth. Allow the paint to dry fully before removing the stencil. Use another color of paint pen to add details to the design (borders, etc.) Repeat this process with each square of fabric.
Allow the paint to dry at least one to two hours before using. Always use a plastic or double plastic liner in your shower, or your beautiful creation could be easily ruined. Attach western themed shower curtain hooks, hang, and enjoy!
