Summer Vacation at the Wisconsin Dells - A Family-Fun Summer Vacation

Getting back to nature is always the key in my family's summer vacations. Either it be something as small as camping in our backyard to hiking up a mountain for a picnic, we are always out in nature. Let's face it, the summer is the only time of us Midwesterners' to get out and enjoy the weather (winter will be here soon so let's take advantage of the perfect weather now).

One of our favorite family vacations reaches back to what my parents and grandparents used to do for fun. You could call it a 'vintage vacation" which deals with the Wisconsin Dells. If you have never been to the area, it is a must for this season. There are so many things to do that are romantic for a couple without children or fun for a full family. The attractions that are available in this one location include numerous water parks, adventure parks, ranch adventures, mini golf courses, Wildlife Park, jet airboat rides and much more. There are too many things to mention in one article. Since that is the case, here are a few things that my family suggests as good family fun.

1. Dells Boat Tours: This is a great tour company that has been around for over 150 years! It offers tours on a large boat that has two layers, upper and lower. There are different tour options however there is a great one hour tour that is the most popular, at least when we were there. For each person, the cost of a ticket is less than $20 and less for children. In addition, during certain times this summer, Dells Boat Tours offers a Sunset Dinner Cruise and also a Champagne Dessert Cruise. As the dining is a little more formal, I would not suggest these last two cruises for family with smaller children. The one hour tour is just about right for children, they don't want to get off however any longer and they might start to complain.
