Ever since our world was ruled by kings and queens, dogs have been particularly dressed to impress. You've probably seen paintings of emperors holding a pug with a velvet hat or a princess with a poodle in a satin dress. In the modern age, dogs are still considered much like human family, which is why clothes are almost part of their basic necessities.

It's easy and fun to buy stylish clothes for your dog. Although you can customize and probably create one yourself for your furry friend, current designs in pet stores can be particularly attracting. You'll also save more time and energy buying the right ones that matches your dog to match you. Here are some quick and easy steps.

1. Origin.

Assess the breed of your dog to know its place of origin. For example, pugs have been traced from China while mastiffs are known to have originated in the Netherlands. You can use these places of origin as inspirations on how to choose the right style for your dog. Dogs of oriental descent look good with round caps and silk. Bigger ones which were popularly linked as royal guardians like Great Danes look great with clothes having tassels and shiny buttons.

2. Color.

Provide a good contrast with your clothing of choice with the color of your dog. Light-colored dogs can be complimented with black, red or royal blue clothing. Dogs with darker shades can be matched with earth and pastel colors. Dogs that are black or white can look good in almost any color. At most choose dog clothes with only two colors combined at most. Any more color can be disturbing and look bleak.

3. Size.

Consider your dog's size when choosing the type of clothing. If you're buying, some designs may only come in relatively small sizes. Also look at the overall effect the clothing has on your dog. Some types of wear can make big dogs look adorable while others can make smaller dogs look like brats and unwelcoming.

4. Breed.

All breeds have a unique feature that can be accentuated with the right stylish clothing. Bulldogs have massive heads with adorable wrinkles so you can express this feature with a hood or a turtleneck collar.

Did You Know?
Just wash used ones and cycle all outfits in a one or two-week period. Dogs are still used without clothes in their natural state so observe their level of comfort as some designs may make them feel cumbersome.
