Have you ever considered entering your daughter or son into a beauty pageant? Beauty pageants are popping up all over the country, both glitz and natural systems.

The first thing any budding pageant star should do is decide which type of pageant you want to do, glitz or natural? Lets look at the glitz side on pageants.

ATTIRE

At a glitz pageant you should purchase a glitz dress with either a long or a short skirt depending on the age of the child. Children normally wear a short skirt up to the age of 9 or 10. After that a long skirt should be worn. These dresses are normally custom made. They are embellished with rhinestones, and beading. Dresses can also come in a ray of colors. You should always choose a color that complements your daughters face as apposed to a color that is your daughters favorite. Some pageants have casual wear, swimwear, and/or sportswear competition. Most of these outfits are custom made. All of these outfits can be glitz or non glitz. You should normal ask the director about what type of attire is general worn.

MODELING

The modeling for a glitz pageant should be very smooth and prefect. Keeping the hands with the fingers pointing down, and the feet in a crooked T formation. You should stop at every x and smile, maybe do a turn, or step backwards a couple of times and then circle. Remember to always have fun with you modeling but also keep it elegant. In casualwear and swimwear you can strike a few poses, walk prissy, and really show lots of personality. During the sportswear competition, there will be lots of energy. Pro-am is a common term used to describe the type of modeling. It is a lot like a dance routine, mostly hip hop styled. Some parents are creative enough to come up with their own routines, while others pay for a coach to help them come up with routines and teach hem to their child. Remember to practice your routines and get them prefect, however if you do mess up down worry and keep going. The judges don't know your routines.

STAGE FORMAT

There are two common types of stage format, front T and back T. Depending on the pageant, will be the style of stage. A front T is normal an upside down T.

these things are ridiculous!! NEVER enter your kid into one of these... the whole sane world will be disgusted with you.

My tip would be to not enter your kid in one of these horror fests at all.

I don't understand the T formation thing at all! Plus, twice the word "perfect" was spelled "prefect". Ironic. :)

I made a comment a little bit ago about a comment somone made about this little girl being Jonbenet, and I made post to it stating to do their research first. don't see my comment here anymore peraps some one took it down, but it is NOT directed to the lady who wrote this article, but directly to the one that thought it was Jonbenet... Did not mean to confuse anyone if I did like I did confuse this little girls mommy...

This is an interesting article. My only suggestion is that it would have been great to see a comparison of the glitz and natural styles of pageants in the same article. It kind of feels like you are leaving us hanging by mentioning that there are two kinds, but only talking about one.

That is not Jon Bennet. Is important that you think about what you put as a comment here. This is a different child
