Dogs are bathed very differently from humans. Here's more information regarding your dog's bath.Dogs are not exactly the same as us in terms of bathing. Dogs do not need as much bathing as we do. They should be bathed only when their coat becomes greasy, or when you are about to have company over.
In either case, you definitely do not want to wait to give your dog a bath not until your dog begins to give off a strong doggy odor. Once this happens, it's bath time for your four-legged friend. Here are a few things that you need to remember when you are giving your dog a bath.
Prepare your dog's bathing materials.
Make sure that you already have everything that you need for bathing your dog. You will need to use both your hands in bathing your dog, so to have everything within reach and ready can make your dog-bathing experience a whole lot easier. Lay a blanket on the floor near where you will be bathing your dog.
This will be used later for drying your dog. Keep towels, your dog's shampoo and conditioner, and a washcloth near you. If you want to expedite the whole process of bathing your dog, you should use super absorbent towels.
Keep your dog feeling safe.
Your dog will keep jumping around the tub, especially if they get too scared. Avoid this by making your dog feel safer while getting its bath. Make sure that your dog is able to stand firmly on the ground.
Put non-slippery rubber mats on the floor of the bath tub to keep your dog from slipping. Also, avoid dousing your dog over the face with water, as this may agitate them, making them more aggressive and more difficult to bathe.
Introduce the tub to your dog.
Your dogs can become very anxious and restless during their baths. Make sure that you allow your dog to familiarize itself with the bath tub. This will help ease your dog's anxiety over bathing, and make the whole experience enjoyable for your dog. Try putting your dog in the tub while there is no water in it.
