I love horse back riding. I have been riding horse back for over thirty five years but recently I have given it up. One of the last times I rode a horse my legs actually gave out and I couldn't stand up for a few minutes. That's when I figured my body just didn't want to do it anymore. If I was able to ride everyday then I probably could handle it but my life isn't set up to ride every day anymore so I think it best to stop.

As a youngster I had a quarter horse. His name was Mr. Chips because he was white with tiny spots all over him. He resembled a big chocolate chip cookie. Mr. Chips was very tolerant of me and my mistakes. He was extremely patient and loved my attention. I gave him plenty. We went riding every day even in the winter unless it was rainy or really cold. Quarter horses are a good all around horse that is very versatile and willing to please you. They have great temperaments and personalities and they are extremely smart. If I was to get another horse I would want a quarter horse.

Later on I bought a Saddle Bred from my cousin. My Saddle Bred was not trained so I did it myself. My Saddle Bred was such a good student and learned very fast. By the time I trained him to gallop I realized he was the smoothest riding horse I had ever ridden. Saddle Breds are very smooth horses. Every gait is spectacularly smooth and comfortable. When I rode him I never felt fatigued. I recommend Saddle Breds highly since their ride is so smooth.

When I had kids we got them a miniature horse. Miniature horses are fun since they are so small. But they do like to bite. I think it is because they are so small that they learn to bite easier then large horses. Miniature horses are easier to handle because of their small size. They are not good for adults to ride but they are for children. Children tend to be less inhibited by miniature horses since they are small.
