If you were an amateur scout for a major league baseball team and were told there was a player who was 50 times more likely to strikeout than to hit a home run, would you consider that player to be a good prospect? The odds are that you wouldn't even bother taking a look at the player in question. Yet players who possess an excellent secondary skill, like excellent speed or a great glove, often wind up in the major leagues despite their inability to hit the long ball.

The following list contains the 10 players with the worst K/HR who made their major league debut since the end of World War II. The players had to have at least one career home run and at least 200 career at bats. I excluded pitchers from the list because they aren't expected to be good hitters.

10. Lou Frazier
Frazier was highly sought after as an amateur player and was the first round pick of the Houston Astros in the secondary phase of the draft in 1986. He struggled at the plate in the minors, failing to hit for much average and spending four seasons at AA. He was, however, a stolen base threat, topping 40 stolen bases in each full minor league season. He made his major league debut with the Montreal Expos at the age of 28 in 1993. He hit his only career home run that season off of Joe Magrane of the St. Louis Cardinals. Frazier's career ended in 1998. He finished with 548 at bats, 95 strikeouts and just one home run.

9. Rodney Scott
Nicknamed "Cool Breeze", Scott was a fleet footed second baseman who was originally selected by the Kansas City Royals in 1972 in the draft. He bounced around to a couple of different teams before finally becoming a regular with the Montreal Expos in 1979 and 1980. He stole 102 bases in those two seasons combined and led the National League in triples in 1980. When Montreal released Scott in 1982, teammate Bill Lee left the team in protest. Scott hit all three of his career home runs in 1979. They came off Phil Nastu, Grant Jackson and Willie Hernandez. For his career, he had 2,132 at bats, three homers and 291 strikeouts.
