Wooden Block Photo Display

If you love photos, and you're always looking for new and interesting ways to display them, try a new technique that's somewhat whimsical, but very intriguing. You probably have never seen anything like it in your lifetime, nor will you probably again! You'll start the project with some favorite photos and some wooden blocks.

The wooden blocks you choose don't have to be large, but they do need to be wide enough so that they easily stand on their own. You'll find the wooden blocks at any craft store, and some discount department stores. You can find packs of assorted sizes and shapes, and they're generally sanded and ready to use. The various shapes and sizes make the wooden blocks perfect for the photo display project.

There are many different ways to display the photos using the wooden blocks. Cut bust-only pictures and glue them to the wooden blocks, or choose full-body photos to attach to blocks. The full-body photos gives you a way to embellish the pictures that's really cute. Add tiny beads to the person's picture, to form a necklace, or cut a hat out of felt and glue it on top of the head, in the picture. There's many ways to use various notions to give the pictures dimension.

Group the block photos together on a table, glue them to a different piece of wood and place on a mantle, or just set the block photos here and there, around the house. You can even make a unique photo display of vacation photos that's easy and fun. Glue the family member's pictures on blocks, then make additional blocks that display a picture of the hotel, photos of the carnival rides, or pieces ripped from the menus from the vacation. Then, use one large block, and stickers, to spell out "Hawaii", "Caribbean", or "Tallahassee".

You can do all sorts of fun things with the block photos. Glue lace around the perimeter of the block, add seashells to the top of the block, or even buy novelties, like tiny plastic skate boards, and glue the blocks to them.
