Limestone cliffs, and creamy white shores, along with the ruins of a walled city that's dates back to the 6th century. Lying between the sea and the jungle, is the sands of an ideal place to laze, with foot- in- the- beach, cabana-style accommodation available all along the coastline.Tulum, itself is located on Mexico's Yuctan, Peninsula, close to Cancun and Isla Mujeres. With golden sands and clear blue waters of the Caribbean make a wonderful pleasure spot for the seeking beach lovers. Tulum means "wall", a name given to the site because recently there is a wall surrounding it. It was anciently known as Zama, meaning the city of the Dawn.
The Mayan civilization was already in decline when the city was founded, yet it remained inhabited until after the Spanish conquest. The ruin, which includes a watch tower looking out over the carribbean, several elaborate temples and a great palace, are open daily.
The Tulum beach villa, Suenos Tulum, (Tulum Dreams) is more tribal the touristy. It has 12 rooms, located throughout five stucco buildings, with round port-hole windows and balconies shaped like the prow of a boat. With hand- painted murals, wall relief's and mosaic inlays in traditional electricity. The kitchen appliances and water heaters run on butane gas. Solar panels generate the lights and electricity in the office and the kitchen.
Book your Tulum Beach villa reservation online before your arrival, so that you are greeted at the door with a margarita, rather than a registration card and then led through the palm trees to your hideaway. For your room, take a flashlight, since the solar power doesn't kick in until dusk and even then the rooms are dim. The five buildings with the guestrooms are names after elements. Sol (Sun), Lluvia( Rain), Luna( Moon), Tierra (Earth), and Selva ( Jungle), they are thematically and artistically decorated.
There are not telephones, T.V.'s, C.D. players or other electronic luxuries. If you need to use high speed internet connection or charge your cell phone you can use the office.
