I can't say there's much to do `round these parts (Oklahoma City) ... not because there is not anything to do, more because I can't do most of it (no car). That, and most of the things I could walk to (Stage Center performances, Oklahoma City University musicals and -films, etc.) require money---which I don't have (no car).

But there are a few things we can all do for free. We can hear the next big name in smooth country: Horseshoe Road. Not only do they have a cool name, but their music sounds good too! They've been playing at Kamp's Deli every Thursday from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. (with extra/alternate performances announced as they come up). Kamp's Deli (on NW 25th and Classen, where I always pick up the FREE Oklahoma Gazette) usually has about 30 people (at most) eating their wonderful gourmet selection; with Horseshoe Road playing, there's easily 100-150 people crammed in there! Though the food costs money (and though they might start charging cover to keep the crowd down), the music they play is free to hear!

Then of course there's Karaoke at Cookie's (on NW 22nd and Western ... where the Gazette is also carried). While it's most-definitely not a family occasion (unless your family-members are all well-over 21), the maturer crowd has a good time. While the drinks cost money, singing Karaoke only takes some patience (letting everyone have their time at the mike), some guts (singing in front of people! OMG!! lol) and maybe some experience (to know which songs are okay for you to sing and how you ought to sing them).

And there's always something to do outside. One such 'to do' (although it's more 'planned' than 'just kinda happening') is the Gay Pride Parade (or whatever they call it LOL) down NW 39th this Sunday (June 24th). You know I won't be marching! but a friend of a friend--a Protestant preacher, married with two children--shows that there's no hard-feelings (no pun intended) and hands out bottled-water to participants in the parade, which incidentally goes by right in front of his house---and I plan on helping him out.

It's the tone I live by ... like my motto's usually say, "C`est la vie" ('And so it goes'/'That's life' ... I forget the actual translation.)
