Summer Style for Baby Boomers

Summer is right around the corner and the barbeque is beginning to get a workout. Plans are being made for weekends at the beach and men are thinking that maybe they should start paying some attention to how they look.

Some men have let their hair grow longer and are sporting a pony tail. Take some advice men, the nineties are over. Short hair is back in style.

This time of year even the hairiest of men are going to a stylist or a barber for a trim to clean up those lines. These days shorter hair with clean lines are not only better looking but much cooler during the hot summer months.

So with that in mind here are some suggestions to all those older men who have let their hair grow a little wild over the years.

First of all don't go looking at what your wife has in her cabinet. The things she uses are designed for the ladies so unless you want to feel silky soft and smell sweet leave them alone and go to a specialty store that stocks grooming products for men.

If you go to a barber or stylist you will see that there are more men getting cuts. Some are young and some not so young. Personally I found a small barbershop in town that was fairly crowded when I went.

Actually, it has been there for more than twenty years and I had gone there several years ago but it has changed owners over the years so I changed to a stylist. After a few years of paying the high price I decided it was time to go "old school" once again.

When I walked into that shop I was impressed by the size of the crowd waiting for a cut. That told me they do good work. There must have been ten guys waiting, some with their sons. The barbers were using all the old tools they used when I was a kid and I was surprised to see them using shaving foam and a razor to trim the edges.

Another service they provide is trimming of the eyebrows. Nothing says "old" like over-grown eyebrows. If you don't want to pay to trim them you can find a small pen size trimmer at any store like Target or WalMart for just a few dollars and do it your self. It will be noticeable right away and will give you a nice clean look.
