Having trouble finding just the right niche for your writing? If so, perhaps this will help. I've compiled a shortlist of unusual magazines and trade journals, and one might be just right for your work. If not, well, I think this article will still prove interesting reading.

Portable Restroom Operator

Rangoon Moon, Inc.

P. O. Box 904

Dahlonga, GA 30533

This trade magazine, published nine times per year, covers all aspects of portable sanitation (i.e. porti-potties). In the 2005 edition of Writer's Market, the publisher states that "Studies on government changes, OSHA regulations, and sanitation articles that deal with portable restrooms are of strong interest." The publisher also wants historical or nostalgic articles, inspirational pieces, and writing about personal experience.

Anyone have any nostalgic memories about past use of porti-potties? Any words of inspiration for users or operators of porti-potties? I bet lots of us have some sort of personal experience with portable johns.

Oh, and this publication also accepts photographs, if anyone has any pictures of porti-potties.

Onion World

Columbia Publishing

P. O. Box 9036

Yakima, WA 98909

This publication covers the world of onion production, marketing and shipping. Editors are looking for articles of general interest, historical information, and interviews.

Anyone care to interview an onion? All right, I'm being sarcastic.

For those particularly interested in veggies, Columbia Publishing also publishes The Tomato Magazine and Carrot Country.

Miniature Donkey Talk

1338 Hughes Shop Road

Westminster, MD 21158

This bimonthly magazine, targeted toward owners, breeders, and lovers of donkeys alike, covers both miniature and full-sized donkeys. The publisher accepts submissions of nonfiction articles and fictional stories about donkeys.

El Restaurante Mexicano

P. O. Box 2249

Oak Park, IL 60303

So you aren't that interested in onions or porti-potties, and you don't own a donkey? That's all right. This may be the place for your work.

Greatly encouraging and helpful. Thank you kindly since we are about to spend 5 days using a portapottie and feel that we can take pictures and spin many a tale!
