Morningstar Farms Product Review: Veggie Dogs, Veggie Corn Dogs and Mini Veggie Dogs

My grandpa use to say if you knew what was in a hot dog you wouldn't eat them. Now I wouldn't eat a hot dog, not that I know what they are made of but because I am a vegetarian. My grandpa was far from a vegetarian, a very meat and potatoes kind of man, but he didn't eat hot dogs. Therefore if you question what is in a hot dog you should consider eating veggie dogs.

I think that the Morningstar Farms America's Original Veggie Dog taste very much like an actual hot dog. I don't eat a lot of meatless hot dogs personally but it is nice when I am invited to a barbeque that I can bring a package of Morningstar Farms America's Original Veggie Dogs and there will be all the condiments that I need. They also make a quick snack at home, especially for kids and I feel better about giving my son, when he is old enough, a Veggie Dog rather than a cheap hot dog.

Well while I am not crazy about the ingredients in a veggie dog, that include red #3, blue #1, I imagine that when compared to whatever ingredients my grandpa was talking about that these look pretty good. Hopefully by the time that my son is old enough to eat a veggie dog that I will have found a much more pleasing list of ingredients.

Sometimes a corn dog just sounds good, I think that they are a quick snack that is fun. Both the Veggie Dog and Veggie Corn Dog that Morningstar Farms offers taste like the meat that they are imitating. When I was a kid I loved to eat corn dogs, if my son likes corn dogs I will feel good about giving him a Veggie Corn Dog.

When I saw these I thought they looked so cute, I have used Morningstar Farms® America's Original Veggie Dog® to make my own pigs in a blanket, cause I thought it would be a cute fun snack. I have never tasted these personally. I imagine that they make a good snack though, plus I think they look adorable.

I have yet to look up what a hot dog is made out of, I will just take my grandpa's word for it. Since veggie dogs taste so much like hot dogs you might consider eating them as a healthier snack.
