Interviews are stressful enough without having to worry about the actual sit-down part. From how to dress to how to act to how to verbalize your thoughts, here are the top ten flubs that will kill your interview and lessen your chances of getting the job.

Not dressing appropriately. Always dress conservatively, unless it is the type of job where dressing trendier or a little more risqué would be appropriate. Otherwise, wear a suit (ladies too) in a neutral color, like black, ivory, brown or navy. Even if it is 100 degrees outside and sweltering, it is not an excuse to dress down. Dressing impeccably shows the interviewer that you're capable of doing the job, plus looking sophisticated can give your confidence a boost.

Not doing research. Before going to any interview, you should always research the company. That way, you can ask questions about the job and the company during the interview. Not only will you impress the interviewer with your knowledge of the company, but you'll show him or her that you're a competent person who is willing to go the extra mile for the job and on the job. Keep in mind that an interviewer is not impressed by someone who doesn't have any questions (i.e. no interest in the company).

Being disorganized. The goes along with not doing any research on the company. You should know where you want the interview to go before you walk into the door. Bring a notepad and pen along. Get the interviewer talking as much as possible and start writing things down the pique your interest. Not only will you get more information about the job, but it could possibly lead to more questions you may have.

Don't seem desperate for the job. Act as though you have tons of other jobs offers and that not getting this job won't be the end of your career. That is not to say that you should act blasé, but acting desperate for the job shows the interviewer that you're not overly confident in your job skills. In the interviewer's mind that translates to not being able to trust you to do the job.
