Our pets have become very close to us in our culture. They are an extension of our families. Since we love and care for them so much we want them to have some of the same luxuries that we have. Pampering our pets is a common practice and many of us tend to go to the extreme. Making them happy also makes us happy. Being a dedicated pet lover with lots of experience with startup businesses I was able to do some research. If you are an avid pet lover and would love to start a business focusing on pets, then I have a few ideas that you may want to try.

1.Pet Photography- Animal lovers are very proud of our pets and have many photos to display. Becoming a pet photographer is rapidly becoming a highly requested field. Anyone that owns a pet can become your potential customer. You have many choices of how to operate this business. Setting up a photography studio at home would be very convenient. Clients would make appointments and then travel to your location in order to get their wonderful pets photographed. Keeping the pet and the owner happy during the photo shoot will get you referrals. Each positive experience is like free advertising. Offering the pet owner an assortment of products to choose from is also a great way to increase your profits. Having their pets images on shirts, hats, calendars, or even bumper stickers will cause them to be repeat customers.

2. Pet Clothing And Accessories- Spending a ton of money on clothes and accessories for ourselves has become a favorite past time. Including our pets in this market has also become popular. Creating and selling designer clothes for pets can give you a chance to gain great revenue from sales. This type of business has reached international markets and has no signs of slowing down. Dog sweaters, hats , booties, and rain jackets can be found in many places. If you like to design or sew clothing, why not try this market? Advertising your new pet line of attire to pet shop retailers would prove to be a wonderful idea. Selling it strictly online could also be a great avenue for sales. Once pet owners get a look at what you have to offer, you'll have a chance to increase your business through word of mouth.

I cook for my own dogs, but I don't know that I'd want to start cooking for others... that's a lot of work. There is a shop in OKC that has all sorts of homemade pet treats and they sell some high-dollar prepared pet foods. She says her business has been going really well. People in the US spend something like $40 billion on their pets each year. Apparently there is opportunity for enterprising people with pet-business ideas.
