Are you looking for a secret place to hide away from the stresses of your job, responsibilities, and life in general? You've found it at Cheeca Lodge in Islamodora, Florida. This popular resort and spa center was originally known for being a fishing retreat. In the 1980's it underwent a renovation that made it into the vacation spot and resort area it is today. It's not situated on 27 acres of land right on the Atlantic Ocean. Who could ask for a more relaxing place to unwind?

My husband and I were looking for a place to "escape from it all" and we had received rave reviews from a couple who had spent three days and nights at this elegant resort that's only 90 miles south of Miami. We made it a short visit due to time constraints related to our livelihoods, but it was worth every minute of the two days and one night we spent here.

The atmosphere at Cheeca Lodge is comfortably casual while still retaining an understated elegance. This is just the type of environment we fell most comfortable in. We were delighted when we arrived at our room after an exhausting day of sight seeing. We eagerly opened the door to drink in the elegance of our surroundings. The Italian marble bath left a positive impression as I contemplated soothing my aching feet in its cool splendor. We opened the window blinds to find a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Later that evening, we enjoyed a beautifully prepared dinner of some of the freshest seafood I've tasted served in a white tablecloth setting. Everything from the service to the food quality was excellent.

After a restful night of sleep spent in a roomy, comfortable bed, we awoke to a quick game of tennis at the tennis club. After that, we enjoyed a light breakfast outdoors under the porch. The weather was cooler than expected which created a perfect setting for the freshly prepared breakfast of scrambled eggs and war, buttered toast. Why do eggs always taste better when you get them out?
