As Donald Trump closes in on a potential sale of his Atlantic City casino empire, he announces that his Chief Executive of the casino division, John Perry, has been let go by the company. Perry has now been replaced by Trump's second in command at Trump Casinos, Mark Juliano. The announcement was made as a part of Trump's 61st birthday celebration over the weekend, according to a report issued by the Newark Star-Ledger.

Trump's 61st birthday celebration was a star studded event where casino high rollers gathered to applaud the man who put gambling on the map in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Trump attended the event, flanked on each side by the girls of "Deal or No Deal", and escorted by former Baywatch babe, Carmen Electra.

A major turning point in the celebration came when Trump called Mark Juliano onto center stage. Until that point, Juliano was second in charge at Trump's casino division. After being called onto stage, the Deal or No Deal girls informed Juliano that he had just been promoted.

"Mark has done an amazing job," the Newark Star-Ledger reported Trump as saying. "And he was just given a very big promotion by myself. So Mark, you're in charge of it."

Although Trump did not comment further on Juliano's promotion, many within the industry have began to speculate as to the various reasons for why Perry had been fired and replaced by Juliano. The official word from Trump offices appears to be that the Donald was concerned over how committed Perry was, as his time was divided between Atlantic City and California, where Perry's family remained after he emerged from retirement to help bring the casino company out of bankruptcy. A number of Executives brought on by Perry also commuted to New Jersey and were frequently absent.

However, in typical Trump fashion, there is a bit of controversy on the topic that hints that there is more to the story than meets the eye. Perry's firing came as Trump is attempting to close out the sale of his casino empire to former Atlantic City casino executive Dennis Gomes and New York real estate developer Morris Bailey.

Takeaways
  • John Perry came out of retirement two years ago to help bring Trump Casinos out of bankruptcy.
  • Perry had a troubled past with David Gomes, who is bidding to purchase the casino group.
  • Perry has been replaced by his second in command, Mark Juliano.
