According to the Detroit News, a 7-year old Michigan boy is on his way to making it into the Guinness Book of World Records. The boy has produced the largest ball of plastic wrap ever recorded.

Jake Lonsway of Bangor Township has broken the previous record of having a 250-pound ball of plastic wrap. According to witnesses at the weigh-in, this ball that was created by Lonsway weighs in at 281.5 pounds.

Andy Martell of Toronto set the previous record for the largest plastic wrap ball. His ball measured in 128 inches in circumference. Lonsway's ball measures in at just over 138 inches in circumference.

According to the Detroit News, it took the boy over eight months to complete this project. His mother came home one day with a softball-sized ball, and Lonsway took it from there. Family and friends also collected plastic wrap to help him accomplish his goal.

There have been attempts to break this record in the past, but storage and transportation of a giant ball of plastic wrap is not an easy task. Trying to stop an out of control ball of plastic wrap can turn into a dangerous task for anyone.

Lonsway's parents will have to help the second-grader with filling out the eight-page application for the Guinness Book of World Records. There are also letters that will have to be submitted by the witnesses, who happen to be the police chief of St. Charles, and his wife.

Once the paperwork is filled out, Lonsway's ball will go through the full confirmation process by the Guinness Book of World Records. This process can take anywhere from a few days, to a few months. It may require a representative of the records organization to come out to the home to view the plastic wrap ball.

Depending on when his process is finalized, it will be known if he will be placed in next year's book, or the following years edition. Whichever year it hits, there is sure to be a copy in this young boy's room for the rest of his life.
