Guide to Outdoor Activities in Utah
Having lived in Utah for the past several years, I've come to realize there are a great many places to go and things to do. Utah is an interesting place, because even though it is a desert state, it has some of the best skiing/snowboarding anywhere. It also boasts a wide range of summer
activities as well; Moab has some of the best mountain biking trails, and Zion National Park offers some of the most beautiful hiking and camping spots in the world.
One of the problems about visiting Utah, however, is deciding what to do, because there are so many national parks and resorts. It can be an overwhelming task to plan a vacation, even for Utah natives.
If you're looking to plan a great trip, there are plenty of guides online that can provide you with the perfect Utah outdoor adventure. I would suggest looking for some informational websites about Utah, and make a list of what activities they recommend. From there, you can narrow that list down to what appeals to you. From that point, you can either choose to find a guide to provide you with a great adventure, or you can plan the trip schedule to suit your needs.
Utah is a very family-friendly place, so if you're looking to plan a family trip, Utah is perfect! There are lots of places to go camping, horseback riding, swimming, hiking, etc. in the summer, and skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in the winter. One of my personal favorite winter activities is going for a sleigh ride with my husband. The beauty of seeing the world blanketed in freshly fallen snow from the back of a sleigh is a memory that won't be forgotten!
Some of my favorite places to visit in the summer include Flaming Gorge, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, and Moab, although it can get quite warm there. In the winter, as an avid snowboarder, I love going to Brighton or Solitude. Skiers flock to Alta and Deer Valley, although as a snowboarder, I'm not allowed in. Snowboarders, don't try to go there! (Don't worry - Brighton and Solitude are fabulous as well!)
Utah is a great place to visit because of its natural diversity and untainted beauty. Come for a visit - you won't want to leave!
