987 - Crowned King of France, Louis IV

1269 - King Louis IX of France declares that a badge of shame must be worn by all Jews

1464 - King Louis XI of France established the postal service

1502 - Treaty of Antwerp signed by Emperor Maximilian I and England

1770 - General Church of New Jerusalem established

1778 - Finally Washington's troops leave Valley Forge

1829 - The London Metropolitan Police (Bobbies) founded by Sir Robert Peel

1835 - Jackson Square is given to the United States, from New Orleans, to be used as a mint
