Hi I'm Jim Weidmann the Family Night Guy! Many years ago I experienced a dilemma in my family. My kids were bored with church - and with spiritual matters in general. They didn't want to go, they didn't want to learn, they didn't care about Jesus at all. It was at that point that I realized that if they were going to know Jesus that it had to be my responsibility as a father to tell them about him - I couldn't rely on church, on Sunday School, or others. My problem was "How do I do this in a way that they will want to learn?"
From Objections to Object Lessons

Well, I started coming up with object lessons with the main emphasis being that they had to be fun and engaging. Every week we'd get together and spend an evening just having fun together. These "Family Nights" contained these object lessons that came from everywhere - science projects, long commutes, tinkering in the garage, but mainly through reading God's Word and spending time in prayer. It only took a few weeks before my kids were begging to have a Family Night each week.

The Pay Off
The results have paid off. All of my kids know Christ and they all minister to others in amazing ways. I'm still doing family nights, and my kids keep me accountable with it. In fact, they rate me on how good a family night activity is - and they come up with their own activities too!
At Promise Keepers we want to help you become the spiritual leaders God intends you to be, and that begins by teaching spiritual principles to our kids. Many topics will be presented in "The Family Night Guy." And so I want to give you a few activities to start out with this month.

Takeaways
  • Promise Keepers is about getting men involved in spiritual matters
  • Family Night Guy is about object lessons on faith
  • This is fun stuff

I have heard this radio feature on KPOF in Denver. I could have used it 20 years ago. Thanks for posting it!
