10 Ways to Cut Your Energy & Give You More Time (& Money)

Create an Eco-Friendly Home, Save Money, & Give Yourself More Time

It seems that in today's day, everyone is trying to be Eco-Friendly or Organic or just wanting to cut their energy needs so that they can save some money. There are many projects that you can tackle to create a more eco-friendly home or have a more energy efficient home. It all starts
with the desire to want to make a difference, either for yourself, your home, or the earth. If you have a desire for one, you in turn make a difference for all three.

Here are just a few ways that you can save money in your home or apartment and make a difference for the earth.

1. Change Your Light Bulbs: By changing one incandescent light bulb to a compact fluorescent light bulb, you can cut out about 60% of your energy coming from just one light bulb. Let's say that you change one 60 watt incandescent light bulb to one 15 watt compact fluorescent light bulb; you would save 45 watts of energy! Now multiply that by 30 light fixtures in your house, and you would be cutting your energy needs for light bulbs by 1350 watts. Also, these bulbs last longer than the traditional incandescent bulbs, so you will not have to change them as often thus creating less work for you. In addition to these bulbs producing less wattage, the heat that a traditional bulb exerts is a lot hotter then the CFL, so you will save indirectly with a cooler home, especially if you have four 120 watt bulbs in your ceiling and you replace those with CFLs around 20 watts. These small things add up to big changes, it just takes a little bit of time.

Loved all these 10 points--but the fruit plastic bags, the "thin ones" are a shocker. Liked your suggestions on how to compost, and especially jugs of ice water in the refridgerator. Thanks much--hope u get lots of readers and lots of helpers for Mother Earth. shalom from Neil
