There are five more women, in addition to Hillary Clinton, the only one currently running, who could make a bid for the U.S. Presidency.

Who are these women who could be president? What makes them stand out?

Five More Women Who Could Be President

Nancy Pelosi is the woman who has gotten closest to the presidency in terms of succession. She also has her own page on YouTube.

Todd- Good call. Shirley - John Edwards kind of does not fit this topic :-)

Well done.

What about John Edwards? Surely he could one day be president!

Elizabeth Dole ~ she's run in the past, and I think Elizabeth Dole would make an excellent President! I don't think she will run again, though. Personal politics aside, I think Hillary Clinton could win the Democratic nomination, but would have a hard time in the general election because there are just too many people who would vote for ANYONE as long as it wasn't her.

Very interesting.

Too bad Condoleeza became so involved with Bush. With her intelligence and talent she could have been president. My vote out of all these would probably be with Napolitano. She has more common sense than many other politicians. I'd love to see you give even more info on these women (and others). Good job!

Awesome article idea. I've always had a thing for Barbara Boxer, myself.

Great comments, everyone! Alyce, sounds like you have an article there.

I read both headlines the same way. I would vote for Cynthia McKinney if she were running for President because she voted no on the Patriot Act (which smacks of Big Brother is watching you type of governmnet) and that she had guts enough to introduce "Impeach Bush" legislation. I would want a female president that had compassion for mothers and children in Iraq. Rice and Clinton obviously do not. Thank you for sharing.

Good article. Lots of info and other people to think about for the future?

Any of these would be better than Hiliary, but Pelosi??? That one would be a bit hard to swallow. I'd prefer a moderate rather than anyone swinging too right right or left. I'm sick of the right and the left. We need someone with some honest-to-goodness good, old common sense!

Chadd - Her political approval may be low but she is highly regarded by women in business (I can't find the magazine where I read the statitic). Like any "poll" who you ask is just as important as the result.

Good article, well thought out (even if your title was changed--perhaps putting Hillary's name in it will increase your page views)

Condoleeza blew her chance by letting herself be Bush's Yes Man. She is both spineless and ambitious to the point where she has no integrity. Some of the others you list sound interesting, though.

I'll be voting for Hilary, but I think that Condoleeza Rice would have a good shot at it.
