An idea that is catching on in golf stores nationwide was actually launched in Myrtle Beach, S. C. when Martin's PGA TOUR Superstore decided to bring recreational golfers the same kind of game improvement service and technology that the pros get out on Tour.

Martin's introduced its own armada of fully-equipped hitting bays, launch monitors and swing analyzers, then added in services to meet a golfer's every equipment-tweaking need. Everything from high-tech analytical equipment to grinders, club components and tape can be found in the revolutionary Martin's stores.

Just like a Tour pro, recreational golfers can now have their clubs adjusted to perform more in sync with their swings. If a golfer can achieve better iron play by altering his or her equipment, on-site technicians can grind away at the clubheads, changing loft and lie. Any level of customization is obtainable from re-gripping and re-shafting to building custom-fitted clubs.

As for tweaking the golfer's swing itself, Martin's delivers professional instruction through a team of on-site teaching professionals. While you won't find Butch Harmon or David Leadbetter there, you will find instruction that is provided by expertly-trained and certified PGA and LPGA teachers.

Since the early 2000s when the PGA TOUR Superstore took over the popular Martin's golf shops in Myrtle Beach, the emphasis has shifted from sales to service. With the memorable slogan, "build a better game, get a better price," the Martin's team pioneered the concept of providing game improvement first and believing that the sales would follow. Now the major golf chains are entering the game with their own take on this approach but, so far, nobody does it better than Martin's.

While Martin's emphasis on game improvement signaled a sea change from the old-style golf stores that "stack 'em deep and sell 'em cheap," it kept an eye on consumers' desire to be able to access a vast selection and get low prices. Martin's PGA TOUR Superstore has one of the largest inventories of all things golf - from equipment to clothing, to home furnishings- that can be found on the planet.
