There are special events in Chicago all summer long to add to the entertainment and excitement available in the great city. Taste of Chicago is the big event of the summer, with 10 days of music and food in Grant Park drawing huge crowds of festival lovers. Navy Pier, with fireworks twice a week, lights up the skies every Wednesday and Saturday. As the summer progresses, Chicagoans and visitors to Chicago can enjoy the free Chicago Outdoor Film Festival, Venetian Night, Chicago Air and Water Show and the Chicago Jazz Festival. Following is information about these special events.

Taste of Chicago. June 29 - July 8. The 27th Annual Taste of Chicago has three stages of entertainment featuring a variety of music, Food from 70 different Chicago area restaurants, sports activities and fireworks. The fireworks extravaganza , Macy's independence Event Fireworks Spectacular is held on July 3 at dusk. Preceding the fireworks show is a concert from the Grant Park Orchestra. This year there will be two additional fireworks displays, at the Taste. There will be fireworks display on July 4 at 9:30 pm and July 5 at 9 pm.

Chicago Outdoor Film Festival. Tuesday nights July 17 - August 28. The free outdoor film festival features classic movies on a big outdoor screen at Butler Field in Grant Park at sunset. This year's lineup includes Young Frankenstein on July 17, Double Indemnity on July 24, Written on the Wind on July 31, The Awful Truth on August 7, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid on August 14, Sweet Smell of Success on August 21, and The Sound of Music, on August 28.

Venetian Night, July 28. Boat parade with about 30 boats decorated with lights and props. The theme is "Chicago's Finest Moments" The aquatic parade is followed by an elaborate fireworks display synchronized to music provided B-93XRT. Th parade begins at 8:30 pm and takes place along Lake Michigan between the Shedd Aquarium and Chicago Yacht Club.
