Tumble Weedz Deli is a small deli/bakery/caterer in San Angelo. It was started by the father-daughter combination of Jim and Samantha Braun who wanted to open a deli that they were used to on the east coast.

Tumble Weedz is located in the Southwest Plaza shopping center behind Hastings, and is easy to miss unless you know what you're looking for. It has a sign that simply says "Deli." The deli is closed on Sunday and used to be open until 8 p.m. on other days. They are now open until 3 p.m.

When walking into Tumbleweedz you will see that it is fairly small with 10 or so tables set up, with an ordering counter in the back. They have display cases set up under the counter which will show off many meats, pastas, cakes, cookies, and pastries that are made in-store.

The menu includes several pastas and salads, as well as several homemade soups including lobster bisque and beef portabella. Prices on soups are in the $5 to $6 range and are all very good. They also serve several quiches which are $15-$18 per pie and $2.50-$3.50 per slice. They also serve their own baked desserts which include cookies, muffins, cinnamon buns, and pies.

Tumble Weedz is a deli, of course, so their specialty is sandwiches. And let me tell you they make a great sandwich. Their sandwiches are available on regular sliced bread, a larger roll, and a wedge, which is like a sub sandwich. The wedge bread is fantastic with different herbs baked inside. I'm not sure exactly how to describe the bread but it is great.

Perhaps the best sandwich their standard Italian sub- the Italian Combo, which is salami, pepperoni, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, salt & pepper, and oil & vinegar on a wedge. It is simply the best sub I have eaten. They also serve many other hot and cold subs including a nice Philly cheesesteak, reuben, and quite a few other unique creations. Most of their specialty sandwiches range from $6 to $8, while you can get other sandwiches for $5-$6 on regular bread, allowing you to choose your fixings among meats, cheeses, etc.
