Coffeehouses are more popular than ever these days. Starbucks helped start the revolution in the 1990s and it seems that new coffeehouses are popping up every day. The first real coffeehouse in San Angelo was Baker Street Coffeehouse.

Baker Street started off as a small kiosk in the Sunset Mall several years ago. It did very well and eventually moved to the Southwest Plaza sitting right at the corner of Knickerbocker and Sunset. It has been very popular since opening and was always a high quality establishment, although things have changed somewhat after a change in management.

When you walk into Baker Street you will notice a small bar to the left, and the counter in the back. The main area with the bar, counter, and a few tables quickly expanded to a new room that is very comfortable with tables, couches, and a bookshelf full of games to play. It is a very inviting and relaxing atmosphere.

Baker Street offers more than just specialty coffee. They serve breakfast, such as several bagel and cream cheese flavors. You can also order breakfast sandwiches which are served on bagels. And it wouldn't be Texas without the offering of breakfast burritos. They also serve some pretty good deli sandwiches for lunch. The breakfast prices are very affordable and the deli sandwiches will cost you $5 plus dollars.

The coffee prices are about what you would expect for a coffeehouse. Expect to pay $3-$4 dollars for a drink depending on the size. The coffee is quite good, with the downside being that they serve them in Styrofoam cups, which I have heard changes the flavor of coffee. So that is a big chink in the armor for a coffee house among coffee connoisseurs.

I completely agree with you, Baker street has gone completely to hell since being bought my the last lady, I think her name is martinez or such, the last time I was there I told her to go to hell for being so rude to myself & my daughter. I will never go there again. Texas coffee company is so much better anyway.
