Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have adopted three children during the two years they have been together. Their names are Maddox, Zahara and Pax. On March 10, 2002, Jolie adopted her first child, Maddox. He was born on August 5 2001in Cambodia. On July 6, 2005, Jolie adopted another baby. She was a six-month-old girl from Ethiopia and Angelina named her Zahara. Afterward, Angelina and Brad decided to conceive a child together. Angelina gave birth to a girl on May 27, 2006. They named her Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. She was born in Namibia amidst a storm of zealous curiosity from the general public and the ravenous paparazzi, of course. Finally, on March 15, 2007, Jolie adopted a three-year-old boy after visiting Vietnam who was born on November 29, 2003. Angelina and Brad named him Pax.

Angelina and Brad have four children together in total, three of them were adopted. They have said that they are planning on adopting several more. Indeed James Haven, Angelina's brother once said in an interview with a European magazine that "There is no limit on the children she and Brad are adopting. It could be scores. I've never heard an end number to their conversations."

Never in the history of Hollywood has a couple caused so much controversy in terms of adoption of children. The question is, should they or shouldn't they adopt more children? Is this controversy fair? Many believe so.

There are some rumors and malicious comments that have been spread around in every single tabloid published about these adoptions. These are some of them.

They are adopting too many kids.

If a couple has enough resources and can fulfill all the qualifications the government imposes for adoption, what is wrong with adopting them children? The world is full of kids that have been abandoned in orphanages. Every single couple that decides to adopt is doing a service to these children. Every kid that gets adopted is one less kid that will be an orphan for the rest of his/her life. Most orphans are just thrust into the real world after they turn 18. Others live in a succession of ever changing foster care homes.

They are not good parents.

Crazy. They adopt for publicity? They already have that. They are not good parents? A billion pictures with their children should prove otherwise. They should adopt American children? Why? Children are children and American adoption laws make adopting ludicrous and difficult. Why criticize? It's their life, and I think if they can do it...GREAT.

Very interesting perspective & great photo, too! I agree...people seem to forget the conditions where these children existed. I guess folks just have to criticize to feel good about themselves. Personally, I think the Pitt-Jolie entourage are moving mountains to help these children. It's not just the few they've adopted; rather, it's the window they provide into the various possibilities. I'm sure that more folks are adopting, and others are donating to "third world" countries and orphanages. American adoptions are strictly (and sometimes illogically) limited. There's an entire world of children needing homes. It's very kind and generous of this couple to adopt these kids and they go beyond that...they encourage others to join in their campaign to help the less-fortunate. Great article! Thanks!
