The old abortion debate used to entail whether or not life began at conception. No debate about that anymore. Everyone agrees that's when life begins. So, now the pro choice movement of America is focused on another argument to keep abortion legal. Personhood. When does the living human being become a person? That is their question. Well, in my mind, using their thinking, it must become a person when it is viable, otherwise we wouldn't keep abortion legal up to almost 20 weeks in some states ... right? Wrong. And I'll show you why.At conception, something very interesting happens. We all know about it. We all learned about it. So why aren't we living the scientific truth that when a sperm and egg come together, each cease to exist? Perhaps because it interferes with our "choice" as women in life to dispose of such a union so that we may live a more free life. Perhaps it's because that, as an abortionist, it would cut money out of our pockets from fewer and fewer "procedures" being done.
Sperm contain human DNA in the form of 23 chromosomes. Some scientists say that the sperm seems to move with such energy that it seems to be driven by the desire to combine with the egg and nothing else. The egg contains human DNA in the form of 23 chromosomes. The sperm belongs to the man and the egg to the woman. But, once the union is made, both cease to exist completely, having formed a brand new, unique individual who began development at the split second of conception. This union of male and female fit in the category of biological life. The unique genetic reproduction of human life now has a metabolism. It grows and reacts. There is nothing in this world that can deny that fact. So, now it is the question of personhood for this unique developing human.
