The Brain Tumor Society, headquartered in Watertown, near Boston, Massachusetts recently sponsored their annual "Ride for Research" on a rainy yet uplifting Sunday in this beautiful suburban area. Numerous survivors of brain tumors, along with their supporters, family and friends participated in a ten mile bicycle ride (or a "virtual" ride) to raise money for brain tumor research. Teams of individuals have created their own web pages on the Brain Tumor Society website, and funds have been raised each year in support of select research projects which focus on finding a cure. On May 20, 2007, many inspired and tenacious riders embarked on a journey over the rain-drenched streets. Through their efforts and those of their sponsors, along with BTS volunteers and virtual riders they raised over $1.3 dollars!

This remarkable organization's Mission is as follows: "The BRAIN TUMOR SOCIETY exists to find a cure for brain tumors. We improve the quality of life of brain tumor patients, survivors and their families by providing access to psychosocial support, information and resources. We raise funds to advance carefully-selected research projects to enhance treatments and to find a cure."

In existence since 1989, the Brain Tumor Society has offered many types of support and reliable information to brain tumor patients, survivors and their families. Within the essence of their formation a primary goal exists to fund promising and significant research for finding a cure, increasing the survival rate and improving overall treatment. Through the first sixteen years of their presence BTS has provided over $9 million of research grants for this cause. Since 2005 many more millions have been raised, and the recent Ride for Research shows strong evidence of that!
