What are the golden years? In my opinion it is the years of 50 and up. They are suppose to be the years when you can retire and enjoy your life of leisure.

But unless you retire from a wonderful job, and have a great retirement plan, you are really out of luck. You have medical insurance taken out. You know you can't live without that. And there isn't much left. You really can't retire until you are 70 and by then how can you enjoy life.

With every year of life you live you will encounter more and more aches and pains. There will probably be more operations to correct what time has done to your body. You have to have insurance to pay for all the repairs.

You are probably taking more and more pills to make it through the day. Some med's will cause a decrease in intimate times. So all you have left is memories.

You wake up and struggle to get out of bed, because all the bones in your body ache.

Yes the Golden Years are wonderful. Not.

The time to enjoy yourself is when you are young. You have all the energy in the world and you are willing to try anything once. When you get older you have to think about it to make sure you don't embarrass your children.

There is a good side to the Golden Years. That is the grandchildren. They are wonderful and if they live near they can make you feel younger. I believe people should have been grandparents before they were parents.

If social security is still around when you retire, you will be able to maybe buy food. After you pay all the household bills, taxes, car insurance and all the things you buy to have some pleasure in your life.

Now I am not saying everyone has a terrible time with the Golden Years. But if you are in the 75% of the population, you may retire from your job, but you will have to get a part time one to make ends meet.

We live in a country where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
