Court TV reported today that 15-year-old Portage, Wis., teen Felicia Garlin, along with Candace Clark, Michael Sisk, and Michaela Clerc have been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing
Felicia Garlin's 36-year-old mother.
The foursome then were said to have buried the woman in the family's backyard before planting flowers over the makeshift grave. Warrants claim that it was Felicia who had covered her mother's body with dirt and planted the flowers which would adorn the top of the burial site.
Garlin's body was discovered by police dogs after police began an investigation of Clark's 2-year-old daughter who had been missing since February. The case had been brought to the attention of Portage authorities when Lake County Florida sent a request for a search warrant in connection with the missing 2-year-old. The house was searched when databases had shown Sisk's address to be that of the home in Portage. Sisk is said to be the boyfriend of Clark.
Clark's daughter was in Child Protective Services while Clark was in jail serving time for identity theft. Clark never checked in with CPS prior to her having picked the girl up.
The foursome who had all originally used false names when questioned by police as to where Felicia's mother was, had told them that Garlin had died from AIDS and cancer. It was then that Clerc divulged the information that Garlin was buried in the backyard of the home.
Upon the search of the home, police also found an 11-year-old boy hiding in a closet. He was found burned, bleeding, and apparently abused. Police allege that Clark and Clerc scalded and pulled on the boy's genitals with a pair of pliers. They face charges pertaining to the boy's abuse as well as that of first-degree murder. The boy is thought to be the son of the deceased Tammie Garlin.
The foursome faces a total of 10 criminal counts including child abuse and first-degree murder. They were expected to have had their first court hearing on Wednesday.
