Did you achieve all you wanted to in life? Did you live your life in such a way that every decision you made from grade school on was working toward the career you would have one day? Some people plan a
ll their young lives for the career they will have. And some don't. Some students did the best they could and just fell through the cracks of the school system and got left behind to flounder like a fish out of water. I was one of those students who didn't make it.

I am thankful for the adult literacy program that filled in the gaps. I am not the only one who ever fell through the cracks; I have met many people who have a similar story to mine. Many parents cannot help their children with their homework because it is beyond them. I am encouraging everyone who does not have a high school diploma to enter an adult literacy program and prepare to take your GED exam.

No one grows up thinking they'll lack the education needed to land a career to support a family, pay a mortgage, and put all their children through school. But it happens every day. Students are still dropping out of school, or they are graduating and can't read well enough to pass a college entrance exam. Students every day fall short in the school systems. If they don't understand the work given to them, they may get left behind, if the parents cannot help them. If you never finished high school, and you have a child who wants to follow in your foot steps, I would suggest going to an adult learning center to get the education necessary to pass a GED test. Setting an example for your child is one of the best things a parent can do. The last thing any parent wants to hear is that their teenager dropped out of school, and justified it because you did the same thing.
