Pal's Sudden Service is an Award Winning Restaurant
Pal Barger is the founder of Pal's,and began teaching excellence since opening the first restaurant in 1956.Pal became interested in the restaurant business in the Air Force by watching, from a distance with binoculars, how one was operated in Austin,Texas. He learned from his mother and father, who were in the restaurant business by working after school, and on weekends.
While most fast food restaurants are about gimmicks, and playgrounds Pal's is all about product quality, service speed, accuracy, friendliness, and sanitation. These are the great qualities that make the customer feel satisfied, and will come back again, and again. This type of quality helped Pal's win the coveted Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award in 2001,and the only restaurant to win.
Pal also believes that he owns a manufacturing business.Because,at every Pal's there is an assembly line making hot dogs Frenchie Fries, sweet tea,the Big Pal Hamburger, delicious smaller Sauce Burgers, delightful Milk Shakes, and some other very tasty, and affordable offerings.Pal also views the company as an educational institution. It has 650 employees fully trained in business excellence systems that determine the success of the company.the turnover rate at Pal's was 100% in 2006 well below the national industry average of 200%.
Pal's shares these concepts with organizations throughout the country at the Business Excellence Institute. These same techniques such as,employees use of flash cards to learn their jobs, and to set the same standards at all Pal's,can help to make other organizations successful,as well.
